we are a strange country. the web hardly plays a role in india and yet the nation has the second largest viewed news website! amazing! obviously, the product is good and the curiosity about the indian financial markets is significant! what i guess needs to be seen whether this is an indication of what more can happen with the web in india as a communication tool!

Though retail particpation in stock market in India is very low, i think around 10 per cent of population particpate in equity market but the popularity of money control points towards the latent demand that exists in India about shares and mutual funds!

Is’nt it easier for a website to source all its content from its parent company which is a TV news channel? What about websites like myiris and sharekhan that work on the same lines minus any help?

Now the real challenge before money control is to monetise all those eyeballs. Also, other channels should take a cue from mc and start putting more content on their web sites.
